CDEA NEWS

CO-PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

As we move into the holiday season, we are reminded about the importance of community and the life-affirming role of the arts in our lives. In the new year, we will be redoubling our efforts to insure that dance and dance education have a place in our communities and in the priorities of the State of California. We welcome your support.

One of the ways that we continue to build and sustain support for dance is through our network of like-minded artists and educators around the country. For us, the national conferences are an especially important venue for this community-building. In 2010, the National Education Organization’s 12th Annual National Conference “Creativity, Innovation and 21st Century Skills," will be held October 20-24, 2010 at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. Proposals to present a paper, panel discussion, movement session or workshop are due April 1, 2010. We hope that you will join us. To help prepare anyone who is considering a proposal to present work, the CDEA Board will be holding FREE “Proposal Writing Workshops” to assist in developing excellent proposals. Look for those dates and times in our January EBLAST message.

We wish you a happy winter holiday season!

Ted Warburton, Co-President, Northern California

If you are a dance artist, company, venue or fan, the California Dance Network is your free connection to the dance community in California. This growing website provides dance-related contacts throughout the state through an interactive map featuring dancers, teachers, performance spaces, dance suppliers, administration resources and more.
